Marla's Journey: Why I Chose This Path
August 2022 —
Qualifications and Purpose
Hey there, it’s Marla. I want to share with you why I’ve chosen this path of running for office. You see, I believe I’m better qualified to represent our constituents than Meg Froelich, and I’m driven by a deep commitment to making better laws aligned with our Constitution. However, it’s essential to understand my background.
Driven by Truth and Transparency
Throughout my life, I’ve been driven by a passion for truth and guided by my unwavering faith in God. My goal is to unite Coloradans and bring transparency to our community by educating everyone about the Constitution.
Moments of Reflection
Now, let me take you back to a few moments in my journey that have shaped my decision to run for office. There have been times when I sat at my computer, applying to countless big law firms. Although I never made the leap into those corporate offices, the question remained: why did I send out those resumes?
The Feeling of Weariness
I can tell you that I felt tired. Tired of watching my bank account dwindle. Tired of being a teacher without the appreciation I knew educators deserved.
Doubt and Questions
And, you know, I couldn’t help but wonder: Is this the right path? These doubts persisted as I continued working as an educator and facing financial challenges.
Balancing Roles
Picture me in my corner office on a quiet Saturday, catching up on the latest education news. It’s a stark contrast to the days I spent almost entirely with my child, homeschooling and seldom interacting with other adults.
The Toll It Takes
That lifestyle takes a toll. It can feel like you’re suffocating, desperately gasping for air, but there’s nothing there to breathe.
Beliefs and Values
Then, there are those moments when I see other moms who homeschool. Their Facebook pictures showcase family vacations, outings to historic monuments, and museum visits.
A Part of Something Great
But deep inside, I knew I could be a part of something great. I could say, “I wrote that email. I helped sway my representative.”
Legacy and Faith
You see, my decision to continue homeschooling isn’t just about education. It’s about instilling good values in our kids, emphasizing literacy as much as a strong moral foundation. It’s about leaving a legacy for our children to remember when they have kids of their own. It’s rooted in faith — faith in God, our country, our family, and the belief that by putting others first, we create a better world.
Taking Action
So, I head out to rallies and community events, ready to take action and make a difference because I believe in the power of our the people and their individual voice. Together, we, as individuals, can shape a brighter future for all.
Stand up, America!
