1. I have to recommend King Arthur. My son and I are watching Merlin. On Nexflix. In Spanish. He isn’t ready for a novel like King Arthur but he definitely loves loves browsing the pictures of this comic book. And he looks to see what Merlin looks like. He loves magic so Merlin is his favorite character. If your kids are into Harry Potter which is pure fiction. I would introduce them to King Arthur in comic book. King Arthur is a legendary English tale that teaches kids virtues.
What I don’t like about watching Merlin is that they remove the church from the tale. The church in those times were a big influence in Government — erm. Kingdoms. They keep the king in check. Uther is not a bad or evil man but he has lots of fear. And fear is a negative emotion that can prevent you from doing good in the world. What is he afraid of… Magic. He thinks all magic is bad. So he has banned it from his society. Anyone caught using it will be burned at the stake.
King Arthur is a courageous man with big responsibility. He is compassionate. Which helps him see the humanity of people.
Merlin has a secret. And he can’t tell Morgan Le Fey. Who you know is very powerful but not as powerful as Merlin. You can see how darkness can overcome you and you can turn evil.
This comic book is a great read.
